Space Saving Furniture
When selecting furniture for your tiny house, there are three key characteristics to look for:
Small, Compact & Multifunctional.
Sticking to these three features will add flexibility to your tiny house.
We’ve rounded up some of our favourite space-saving furniture items, and why they’re a great addition to your small space.
Ottomans & Storage Benches
Ottomans and storage benches are great examples of multi-purpose furniture.
They can be used as a footrest, tabletop, extra seating, or storage.
Sofa Beds & Day Beds
A sofa bed is another piece of furniture that’s space-efficient and has multiple uses.
This is especially useful for areas where you only require a bed infrequently, such as when family come to stay.
Most sofa beds are easy to convert into beds, and are surprisingly comfortable.
Murphy Beds
If you aren’t sleeping in a loft, a murphy bed is an expense worth considering.
Murphy beds are specially designed wall-mounted beds that can fold away when not in use.
The space that’s your bedroom by night can be a living space by day.
An example is this classic white option from Zanui:
Loft and Bunk Beds
Use vertical space better with a loft or bunk bed.
A bunk bed has an upper and lower bed—if you have kids of different ages, you can get one where the lower bed is bigger.
A loft bed is a raised bed that usually incorporates other furniture underneath, such as a desk.
Folding Desks & Tables
Whether its an occasional table, a workspace or somewhere to enjoy a family meal, folding desks and tables are a valuable addition to your small space.
These clever furniture items can simply be folded up and out of the way when not in use; freeing up valuable space in your tiny house.
